Interesting results from an important study looking at different combinations of immunotherapy and targeted therapies for the treatment of patients with clear cell kidney cancer have been published.

This study looked at how combinations of pembrolizumab (an immunotherapy infusion), lenvatinib (a VEGFR TKI targeted therapy tablet), and belzutifan (a HIF-2α targeted therapy tablet) benefitted patients with advanced kidney cancer whose previous treatment with immunotherapy or targeted therapy had failed.

For months we’ve been campaigning with workers, The Centre for Progressive Change and other organisations on #SafeSickPay. We’re delighted that the Government has committed to:

✅ Introduce Statutory Sick Pay from day one of sickness
- meaning every employee with an illness or injury will be entitled to SSP from the first day off work sick

✅ Remove the ‘Lower Earnings Limit’ - meaning 1.3 million workers who currently don’t receive any Statutory Sick Pay will now be entitled to sick pay

However:

❌ The rate of SSP is still far too low for workers to pay the bills - with people forced to push on at work risking their recovery and the health of their colleagues.

❌ One third of a million people are at risk of actually having their sick pay reduced because of problematic wording in the Government’s plans.

If the Government wishes to keep its promise to strengthen sick pay, it must raise the rate and protect workers from sick pay reductions.

You can ask your MP to support the #SafeSickPay campaign here:

We hope this is something you will never need to use, but if you do, we have added a new page to our website that signposts to where you can access free legal and social welfare advice.

On this page you will find that Cancer Research UK has a list of organisations that can help you when making a complaint or clinical negligence claim in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, information on their website about how to complain about healthcare services and how to take out a clinical negligence claim.

There is information on the services Citizens Advice and AdviceUK provide and how to access the information.
